Monkees to the rescue

This is a reply to PP's blog about his trip to the ZOO.
I was telling him about a swan getting caught in some netting,
and how the Monkees (not sure which type they were) were very concerned
and tried to help them.
Its from a few years ago, and the shot isnt great but you get the picture...

That's brilliant.

I wish humans were that bloody thoughtful half the time.

Excellent shot SAm, I have no idea what kind of Monkeys they are either. is there a possibility they are bastards and are teasing the bird?

No, they were trying to help, and calling each other, trying to reach down from the pole to help. It went on for about 10 mins before the keepers arrived. AS I remember they were the type of monkey with a big balloon thing going on round their throat...noisy fuckers..

magic! I remember seeing a doc about chimps...the young ones would get themselves into a gang and terrorise the older chimps and chimps on their own....oh how familiar!

Chimps are unpleasantly like humans (for better and worse) - and they hunt monkeys!

I'd be a littel worried the monkeys would be interested in eating the swan, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

I know apes are a different story, but some people are still surprised: but I read about a child falling into the gorilla enclosure in another zoo and a female gorilla went over and cradled him, kept all the others away, brought him over to hte gate and handed him safely to the keepers.
